ATI und Suse Linux 8.2

    Hallo!

    Ich besitze eine ATI Radeon 9100 und das Suse Linux der aktuellen Heft-CD.

    Nach der Installation funktioniert meistens KDE noch, wenn ich aber die Auflösung des Monitors ändere oder andere Einstellungen betätige, kann nach einem Neustart KDE nicht mehr geladen werden. Ich lande dann leider nur bei der Konsole

    Sax2 lässt sich dort nicht starten, da es Probleme hat, die Grafikkarte automatisch zu finden

    Startx geht daher auch nicht, es melden einen Fehler bei radeon(0) und bricht ab mit dem Fehler: No Screens found

    Eine Konfiguration mit xf86config brachte keinen Erfolg. Offensichtlich bringt die Konfiguration nicht. Ich habe dort verschiede Grafikkarteneinstellungen probiert (radeon, vesa, vga)

    Ich hoffe ihr könnt mir weiterhelfen

    Suse Linux 8.2 kennt diese Grafikkarte. Die Radeon 9100 ist in der Treiberdatenbank integriert. ich weiß nicht warum, aber auf einmal lief es wieder. Ich habe irgendwie das Gefühl, dass ich immer Windows vorher laden muss. Naja egal, mal sehen was ich noch herausfinden kann.

    Der schnellste Weg ist tatsächlich eine Neuinstallation. Danach kannst du über yast2 monitor und Grafikkarte neu einstellen. Die Radeon 9100 kennt er ebenso wenig wie meine 9600. Ich habe es einfach mit der ATI Radeon 8500 versucht, das läuft bei mir (nur keine 3D-Beschleunigung).

    Pass auf ganz am Ende steht folgendes:

    (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

    Er findet also den Bildschirm, aber irgend etwas passt ihm bei den Konfigurationen nicht.

    Da ich aber, wie gesagt, vom X - Server nicht so die Ahung habe, kann ich da leider nicht weiterhelfen.

    Eigentlich kann ich nur einen Vorschlag machen:
    Boote eine Knoppix - CD, oder wenn nicht vorhanden, installier noch mal neu (geht ja bei Suse recht schnell).

    Wenn dann der X - Server wieder funktioniert, erstell eine Sicherheitskopie von der Datei /etc/X11/XF86config, damit du sie, falls nach Einstellungen mal wieder nichts funktioniert, wieder herstellen kannst.

    Ich packe die Logdatei auf meinen Web - Space, vielleicht wird jemand anders schlau draus.

    Das würde nichts bringen, ich kann nämlich keinen Fehler entdecken.

    Aber poste mal die Datei /var/log/XFree86.0.log

    Dort sollte zumindest eine Fehlermeldung stehen, warum das Ding nicht startet (ob ich damit was anfangen kann, ist eine andere Frage, mit dem X- Server stehe ich auch ziemlich auf Kriegsfuß...)

    Die log und old - Dateien kannste gleich mitkopieren. Vielleicht steht was interessantes drin.

    Das Verzeichnisse /etc/x11 existiert auch nicht, nur /etc/X11. Linux unterscheidet zwischen Groß und Kleinschreibung ;)

    kopiert es einfach auf eine Diskette:

    mount /dev/fd0 (Das ist eine Null am Ende!)

    cp /etc/X11 /media/floppy

    Mit einer Festplatte geht es genauso, nur muss die halt mit mount /windows/C oder so gemountet werden (vielleicht auch /windows/c).

    Ich konnte bisher nur logfiles finden.
    Das Verzeichnix /etc/x11 existiert angeblich nicht.

    Wie kann ich die Dateien in der Konsole auf eine Windows-Platte kopieren?

    Ich kann dir bisher nur eine sax.log; x86config????.log und eine x86config????.old anbieten ;)

    Poste mal die Datei /etc/X11/XF86config (oder XF86config-4, das weiss ich nie...).

    Dann müsste es da noch ein dem selben Verzeichnis ein Backup von dieser Datei geben, die kannste gleich mitposten.
